Scitech Park distributed “Scitech Surya” Solar LED Home Lights, Lamps and Streetlights to the villagers of Rule, Ghol, Harpud and Kolambi villages in Velhe Taluka, Pune on 15th and 16th October, 2019 respectively. In each village demonstration on connections , charging and technical information on operation and maintenance of Scitech Surya Lamps were given to the villagers. 75 beneficiary families were identified from Rule, Ghol, Harpud and Kolambi villages viz., Kalubai Wada, Bhoplicha Wada, Dapsare (Redekhind), Brahmhankhind and Kusarpeth - which do not have grid connectivity. One Solar LED Street light each had been installed in the four villages. Most of the village hamlets are remotely located and are generally connected only by steep, precarious footpaths as the sole means of connectivity by road.
This project had been supported by Sungard Availability Services (I) Pvt. Ltd. under their CSR activity. This is Phase II of the project as Sungard had supported distribution of Scitech Surya Solar LED Home Lights, Lamps and Streetlights to 100 beneficiary families from 5 hamlets of Mangaon and Shirkoli villages in Phase I.
This initiative of Sungard Availability Services (India) Pvt. Ltd. along with Scitech Park of providing light to families residing in Velhe taluka of Pune District using renewable solar energy has proved to be extremely useful with considerable environmental and socio-economic impact on the lives of these villagers.
