Science and Technology Park, Pune through its second phase of ‘Scitech Surya’ project would be distributing 2240 solar LED lamps to school children of 14 adivasi ashram shalas in Kinwat Taluka, Nanded. Scitech Surya is an innovative ultra capacitor based unique, long lasting, quick charging and low maintenance Solar LED Lamp developed to meet the immediate lighting requirements of tribal/rural students. With 3 hours of solar charging, Scitech Surya Solar LED Lamps can be used for about 6-7 hours. The mission of this endeavour is to support every tribal child’s right to education by providing light in such remote areas of Maharashtra where there is no grid connectivity or very long load shedding hours which severely hampers the studies of the children.
The programme is financially supported by ECGC Limited, Mumbai under their CSR initiative. During first phase of the project 1018 such lamps were already distributed to tribal students of four ashram shalas in Kinwat Taluka of Nanded District.
