STEP-Pune, DST-NIDHI Prayasee Mr. Satyajit Mittal's Innovation Squatease has been awarded by the Swachh-o-vation Puraskaar 2018 on Tuesday, 02nd October, 2018 by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi and UN Secretary General Shri. Antonio Guterres held at Mahatma Gandhi International Sanitation Convention at Rashtrapati Bhawan Cultural Center and organised by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Govt. of India. Mr. Satyajit Mittal's, (Founder of SquatEase) innovation - a unique squat toilet pot designed to make squatting more ergonomic and pain-free - was awarded first place by the Jury.
Swachh-o-vation was the nation wide competition for Technology and Innovation in the field of Sanitation towards a Swachh Bharat.
- More than 200 entries were received from across India.
- After which a screening was done by experts in the field by Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) at UNDP, Delhi.
- Further shortlisted 17 entries were asked to make a presentation at the UNDP Bhawan in New Delhi in front of a Jury which consisted of top level executives from UNICEF, World Bank, Water Aid and IIT- Delhi.
- Five finalists were selected to make an elevator pitch to a jury chaired by Dr. R.A. Mashelkar and consisting of: Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, (Founder, Sulabh International, Ms. Sue Coates (Head, WSSCC), Mr. Robert Chambers, (most senior Development Practitioner) and Mr. Peter Harvey, (Chief- Water, Sanitation & Education Centre, UNICEF).
