Scitech Park, Pune had completed DNA based diagnostics for early detection of cervical cancer for 1000 women in the rural villages of Chhattisgarh. Approximately 4000 rural women from these villages were sensitized by conducting awareness and health camps to provide information and increase self-confidence of women, increased life expectancy, and a healthier planned motherhood and increased hygiene conditions of the households.
This project of screening of 1000 women for cervical cancer by conducting Digene HPV test ensured that the women were tested for cervical cancer at precancerous stage itself and they can be sent for further treatment and risk stratification and would be cured completely of cancer. This project would also ensure awareness of women in remote villages of Chhattisgarh about cervical cancer which plays a very crucial role in early detection and prevention of this killer disease. This initiative is funded by ECGC Ltd., Mumbai under their CSR Programme.
