Path-breaking initiative of incubatee company AyuGen Biosciences Pvt. Ltd. Which focuses on specialized genomic tests announced the successful launch of the Digene HPV test in Pune, which is currently the gold standard in the world in cervical cancer screening for women. This test helps in early detection of cervical pre-cancers (stage before cancer develops) where the woman has a very good chance (almost 100 per cent) of getting rid of the disease. AyuGen eventually plans to make the test accessible and available for women by working with the Government, NGOs and public health specialists. Because of lack of regular screening, poor sensitivity of the currently available tests (VIA & PAP) and lack of awareness, the incidence and mortality rates are highest in our country. The digene HPV test is proven, established and reliable with 96 per cent median sensitivity for detecting pre-cancers.
