DNA based Cervical Cancer Screening Project in Shirur and Maval Taluka, Pune

Scitech Park, Pune in association with KEM Hospital Research Centre (KEMHRC), Vadu, Pune had undertaken DNA based diagnostics for early detection of cervical cancer for women in the villages from Shirur and Maval Taluka of Pune District. Approximately, 2500 to 3000 rural women from Shirur and Maval Taluka had been sensitized by conducting health camps.

Digene HPV screening of 300 women beneficiaries from Shirur and Maval Taluka was completed and the reports were submitted to the respective organizations for the consulting doctors to counsel their patients and take necessary action if found positive. Maintaining proper hygiene and awareness about this cancer helps tremendously in averting this disease. This initiative was funded by New India Assurance Company Ltd., Mumbai under their CSR Programme.
