DNA based Diagnostic Kits for Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer is the commonest malignancy among women in India and overall second most common form of cancer in the world. Worldwide, particularly in developing countries, cervical cancer remains the major cause of death in women. It is estimated that about 200 women die every day in India due to cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is caused by a virus called Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which usually has no symptoms in its early stages and when the symptoms start to appear more often it is in advanced stages. Therefore, prevention and early detection can save hundreds of thousands of Indian women. Cervical cancer is the only form of cancer which is completely curable if detected at an early stage.

Scitech Park, Pune is undertaking DNA based diagnostics for early detection of cervical cancer for women in rural areas of Maharashtra by conducting health camps. They are trained to spread awareness among other women which is a crucial way to keep a check on the high mortality of women due to cervical cancer. AyuGen Biosciences Pvt. SHIRUR & MAVAL TALUKA, PUNE, MAHARASHTRA

Scitech Park, Pune in association with KEM Hospital Research Centre (KEMHRC), Vadu, Pune had undertaken DNA based diagnostics for early detection of cervical cancer for women in the villages from Shirur and Maval Taluka of Pune District. Approximately, 2500 to 3000 rural women from Shirur and Maval Taluka had been sensitized by conducting health camps.

Scitech Park, Pune had undertaken DNA based diagnostics for early detection of cervical cancer for women in the villages namely – Panhala, Apati, Kodoli, Kale, Mahe, Sangwade, Arag and Pohale T. Alate and Shirol of Kolhapur District. Approximately, 3000 to 4000 rural women from these villages had been sensitized by conducting awareness and health camps.

Scitech Park, Pune had completed DNA based diagnostics for early detection of cervical cancer for 1000 women in the rural villages of Chhattisgarh. Approximately 4000 rural women from these villages were sensitized by conducting awareness and health camps to provide information and increase self-confidence of women, increased life expectancy, and a healthier planned motherhood and increased hygiene conditions of the households.
